Stars wear green uniforms as their team shirts. They play their home matches at Melbourne Cricket Ground. MCG is the largest cricket ground in the world. It has a sitting capacity of more than one lac audience in it. David Hussey is serving as the Captain of the side. He is also acting as the Head Coach of the team.

Melbourne Stars had a closed chance in the previous season to win the title. They got defeat by Melbourne Renegades in the final championship. M. Stars have some powerful guns in the team who can hit really hard out of the park.

The franchise includes following in their squad: Glenn Maxwell, Ben Dunk, Marcus Stoinis, Adam Zampa, Daniel Worrall, Hilton Cartwright, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Jackson Coleman, Peter Hanscomb, Nic Maddinson, Clint Hinchliffe, Lance Morris, Jonathan Merlo.

The franchise management has made new purchases for the team. Therefore, it was necessary to get Clint Hinchliffe (from Scorchers), Nathan Coulter-Nile (from Scorchers) Lance Morris and Hilton Cartwright. Theses players have added a more winning tendency to the team. Due to bad performance Dwayne Brave (from West Indies) has been ruled out from the team for the upcoming edition of the BBL.

The team management has also made some important decisions to release some players from the team. Nick Larkin, Travis Dean, Seb Gotch, Michael Beer, Scott Boland, Jackson Bird, Liam Bowe, Evan Gulbis, Sandeep Lamichhane (Nepal) have not been given further contracts for the upcoming 9th edition of the Big Bash League. The elimination of players has created some spots for new players to fill.

The franchise management has not made any decision to sign any new player yet. Melbourne Stars fell short in the previous season to win the title have taken David Hussey as their new Head Coach, before the start of the new season. The purchase of fast bowlers from the Perth Scorchers team has boosted the confidence of the team. This team will have the services of the player like Glenn Maxwell who is a real hard hitter.

Vacancies are available to the new players which will be filled with later decisions.
